Fall Commencement Ceremonies
CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES! WE ARE PROUD OF YOU AND ALL YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED AT UIC!
Summer and fall 2022 graduates from the Colleges of Applied Health Sciences; Architecture, Design and the Arts, Business Administration; Education; Engineering; Liberal Arts and Sciences; Nursing; Urban Planning and Public Affairs; School of Public Health; and School of Law are invited to attend the UIC Fall Commencement ceremonies.
Saturday, December 10
9:00am - Graduate Ceremony
(Doors open at 8am.)
2:00pm - Undergraduate Ceremony
(Doors open at 12:30pm.)
Ceremonies will be held at the Credit Union 1 Arena, 525 South Racine.
Registration is required. Guests will require tickets.
The registration deadline has passed. To request a late registration, please email commencement@uic.edu.
Undergraduates can participate, but there are no guest tickets available. A location where guests can view the live webcast will be announced.
There are a limited number of tickets left for the graduate ceremony. Graduate students can request a late registration. Tickets will be issued if they are still available.
We have partnered with Marching Order to create your graduate experience. Your registration, grad pass, tickets, and graduate slides will be managed through the Marching Order website.
Grad Pass
Your grad pass will have a QR code that will be scanned upon entry to the venue and will also be used on stage. You can have your grad pass on your phone or use a printout. If using your phone, please make sure it is sufficiently charged. You can access your grad pass through the Marching Order website using your individual login as soon as you register. Your grad pass will be used to display your name and degree as you cross the stage and to play your professional name recording.
Graduate Slides
All graduates will have a graduate slide that can be customized at the time of registration by uploading a photo and personal message. The graduate slides for those who register will be shown prior to the ceremonies. If you will not be attending the ceremonies, but would still like to personalize a slide, the slides will be available on our virtual site. The link will be on our homepage. Graduate slides can be posted to social media or downloaded to share with family and friends.
Tickets
All guests will require tickets. At the time of registration, undergraduates can request up to 5 guest tickets and graduates can request up to 8 tickets. Everyone over the age of 1 year require tickets. Please do not request more tickets than you need. There are no extra tickets available for the undergraduate ceremony. There are a limited amount of extra tickets for the graduate ceremony that will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Ticket numbers are determined by venue capacity. All tickets are electronic and are general admission.
Cap and Gown
All graduates in attendance will be required to wear the UIC cap and gown. These can be purchased through the Josten's website until November 3. Orders placed through Josten's will be shipped within 5 weeks. Caps and gowns are also available for purchase through the campus bookstore, Follett, located on the first floor of Student Center East, 750 South Halsted. Live Webcast / Virtual Ceremony
Both ceremonies will be live webcast. The webcasts will be part of our virtual ceremony page, which will also include all graduate slides. The link for the virtual page will be available on our homepage closer to the event.
Seating - Graduate Ceremony
Seating is not assigned. All doctoral students will be seated first, by college. You are welcome to have your advisor present to hood you on stage. There will be enough seats to allow your advisor to sit with you. Please coordinate those arrangements with your advisor.
Master's graduates will be seated by college. Seating is not assigned and is not grouped by major.
Seating - Undergraduate Ceremony
Seating is not assigned. Graduates will be seated by college, but nor grouped by major.
Parking
Parking is free in the parking structure next to the Arena and the parking lots across the street.
Latin Honor Cords
Latin honor cords will be distributed in Student Center East building prior to the ceremonies. The date and location are TBD. Eligible graduates will be notified via email from the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.
Graduation Products
Graduation products including flower bouquets, graduate t-shirts, and spirit necklaces will be available for purchase from the Commencement Group at the Credit Union 1 Arena. Items can be purchased in advance for contact-free pickup. Please visit: www.thecommencementgroup.com/uic.

Information for Faculty
All faculty are welcome to attend the fall 2022 commencement ceremonies. You can request regalia rental here. The deadline to request regalia in November 1. Rental regalia will be available backstage (lower level) of the Credit Union 1 Arena. Doors to the facility will open one hour before the start of the graduate ceremony, and one and a half hours prior to the start of the undergraduate ceremony. It is recommended that you arrive no later than half an hour before the ceremonies to allow enough time to pick up your regalia and line up.
If you are a PhD or other doctoral advisor, you are welcome to hood your graduate on stage. Extra seating will be available on the floor. You can sit next to your graduate/graduates and process to the stage with them.
For faculty attending the graduate ceremony who are not hooding a graduate, and for all faculty attending the undergraduate ceremony, you will line up backstage and will process in behind the platform party.
