Spring Commencement Ceremonies

SPRING 2024 COMMENCEMENT SCHEDULE

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation!

Commencement is a joyous occasion that brings together students, parents, friends and guests to celebrate your remarkable achievements. It serves as a testament to your dedication, hard work and perseverance throughout your academic journey.

However, it’s important to remember that commencement is an official university event, and as such, prolonged disruptions are not permitted inside the venue.  We ask for your cooperation and understanding in maintaining a respectful atmosphere throughout the ceremony. Graduates and guests attending commencement may be asked to leave, or be removed from the venue, if creating prolonged disruptions.

Courtesy and mutual respect for all those in attendance are critical for the enjoyment of this momentous occasion.

The Spring 2024 Commencement Schedule is below.  All ceremonies will be held at the Credit Union 1 Arena (525 South Racine) and the UIC Dorin Forum (725 West Roosevelt).

The registration deadline has passed.  For assistance, please email commencement@uic.edu.  

All guests over the age of 1 year will require tickets to enter the venues.  Specific information on tickets has been sent with the registration link.

Out of courtesy for all in attendance, graduates and guests are expected to stay for the entire 2 hour ceremony.

 

Caps and Gowns

All graduates participating in the commencement ceremonies must wear UIC cap and gown.  Regalia is available for purchase through the UIC Bookstore.

Latin Honor Cords

Latin honors cords will be distributed in Room 613, Student Center East on April 29 and 30, from 9:00am – 6:00pm and on May 1 from 9:00am – 3:00pm.  If you are unable to get your cord in advance, they will also be available at the check in station at your commencement ceremony.  Further information has been sent to eligible graduates.

Parking

For Credit Union 1 Arena:

Complimentary parking is available in the Harrison Street Parking Structure, located 1100 West Harrison Street, Lot 1A, 1109 West Harrison Street or Lot 1B, located 1139 West Harrison Street. Parking in the Harrison Street Parking Structure may be limited. If necessary, guests will be directed to the Halsted/Taylor Street Parking Structure, located at 760 West Taylor Street. Complimentary UIC shuttle buses will be available and directional signage will be posted.

For UIC Forum:

Complimentary parking available in Lot 5 located at 1135 South Morgan Street and Lot 6 located 1135 South Halsted Street.

Facility Information
All graduates and guests will enter through Evolv security systems.

Only small bags, 14″ X 14″ X 6″ or less, will be allowed into the venue.  Bags larger than 14″ X 14″ X 6″ will NOT be allowed into the venues.  All bags are subject to search upon entry.

The following items are prohibited in the Credit Union 1 Arena:
•             Tripods (cameras welcome)
•             Strollers
•             Helium Balloons
•             Noisemakers or air horns
•             Pyrotechnic devices
•             Outside food or beverages
•             Weapons of any kind including knives, spikes, sticks, or anything else deemed unsafe
•             Laser pointers
•             Graphic boards
•             Bottles or cans
•             Mace
•             Aerosol cans
•             Confetti
