Caps and Gowns

Students are strongly encouraged to pre-order their regalia through Jostens from Sunday, September 15 through Tuesday, October 22. To do so, please CLICK HERE.

If a student misses the pre-order deadline, they can purchase regalia at the UIC Bookstore starting November 25, 2019. Please keep in mind that the price to purchase bundles in-store will cost $15 more than the pre-order pricing.

Seating

Seating will be assigned by college and major. Graduates will not process in. Your seating assignment will be printed on your name card. Please bring this with you to the ceremony. You are encouraged to come early to find your assigned seat.  Graduates will only walk across stage once.  If you have a double major, you will be seated in the department of your first major.

Information for Faculty

All faculty planning to participate in commencement must have appropriate academic attire.

Orders for regalia will begin in September.  The deadline to order regalia will be in late October.  Please watch your email for more information.  Specific dates will be published here once they are available.

For more information, contact Marilyn Jackson at muffin@uic.edu.

If you are planning to attend but have your own regalia, you do not need to RSVP. Plenty of seating will be available for faculty. Faculty should be backstage at least half an hour before the ceremonies and will be processed in and seated in the first rows of seating on the floor.  Faculty who are hooding doctoral students will be seated next to their graduates.
