The Fall 2018 commencement ceremonies are for graduates from the Summer 2018 and Fall 2018 semesters. All Summer and Fall 2018 graduates should attend the Fall commencement ceremonies. The Spring ceremonies are for Spring 2019 graduates only.
Only graduates who have registered for the ceremonies are allowed to participate.
Guest tickets will only be available for graduates who have registered for the ceremonies by 3:00pm on December 3. Undergraduates will receive 5 guest tickets. Graduates will receive 8 guest tickets.
Tickets are not guaranteed for graduates who miss the registration deadline.
After December 3, it will be determined if extra tickets will be available. Graduates who have registered for the ceremonies will be notified via email. If extra tickets are available, they will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis and must be picked up in person. No exceptions.
Ticket distribution will be held December 10 – December 14, 2018 in the Montgomery Ward Gallery located on the 2nd floor of Student Center East, 750 South Halsted. Hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm.
If you are unable to pick up your tickets in advance, they will be available for you at Gate 2 of the UIC Pavilion prior to the ceremony. We can not mail tickets. If you are picking up tickets on the day of the ceremony, it is recommended that you arrive at least one hour early.
Caps and Gowns
The pre-order deadline has passed. Students who missed the deadline can purchase regalia at the UIC Bookstore starting on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018. Students will have until December 14th to purchase cap & gown. The UIC Bookstore is located in Student Center East at 750 S. Halsted.
Seating will be assigned by college and major. Graduates will not process in. Your seating assignment will be printed on your name card. Please bring this with you to the ceremony. You are encouraged to come early to find your assigned seat. Graduated will only walk across stage once. If you have a double major, you will be seated in the department of your first major.
Information for Faculty
All faculty planning to participate in commencement must have appropriate academic attire.
The deadline to order regalia has passed. Standard UIC PhD red regalia may still be available. For more information, contact Carol Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are planning to attend but have your own regalia, you do not need to RSVP. Plenty of seating will be available for faculty. Faculty should be backstage at least half an hour before the ceremonies and will be processed in and seated in the first rows of seating on the floor.
